Festschrift in honour of Mr Joseph Schiro`

Jeanine Rizzo was invited to contribute to the festschrift in honour of Mr. Joseph Charles Schiro. The book, edited by the National Archivist, Dr. Charles Farrugia, was spearheaded by MAPCo-Re: The Malta Association of Professional Conservator-Restorers and published by Midsea Books.

Jeanine’s contribution consisted of a chapter dedicated to the legal proceedings surrounding the Benevento Missal and it’s return to Benevento (Italy) from the British Library (UK). This is the first time images of the Missal have been published in a book and we are so honoured and thankful to have been given this opportunity.

The book honouring Mr Schiro` and his impact on the profession of Conservation Restoration, in particular on librarianship and cartography in Malta, was launched on the 29th February 2024 at the National Library of Malta, the Bibliotheca. The event brought together friends and colleagues from the cultural heritage sector as well as Mr Schiro’s family.

Congratulations go out to Mr Schiro` and to all involved in this fantastic publication.
